About me

I am Patrik Frank, born in 1973, grown up in Württemberg (Southwestern Germany), but been all over the place globally for over 30 years. Since 2016 I my family and I live in Erfurt.

I started a degree in mechanical engineering, paused it after 3 semesters for 8 months in Israel before quitting enginerring in order to study theology. My first years on the job as a pastor were spent near Nürnberg, followed by doctoral studies at the University of Otago in Dunedin (New Zealand). I graduated with a PhD in New Testament Theology in 2008, by which time we were already struggling to get a foot on the ground in Brazil. Eventually we had to give up - quite a depressing experience. After some 10 years in pastoral ministry in both the Palatinate region and in Erfurt I made a career change and started working as a signal man for Deutsche Bahn in 2024.

What I did best as a Pastor were celebrations of life events like weddings or funerals. They allowed me to best use my gifts and abilities: Listening to people and finding out what is of particular importance to them, organizing and managing things, creating a festive event and preparing a speech, that befits the occasion, that touches people's hearts, that is easy to follow both in language and content, and that succinctly gets the essential points across - reflective, humourous, thoughtful, cheerful or all of that in one.

It is these gifts and abilities that I wish to continue using and to put at your service.

Though I am a pastor no more, I certainly continue to a be follower of Jesus of Nazareth, thus a Christian. Whenever it is approriate and desired, the Christian faith is a substantial part of what I can offer you. Should you not wish for that to be the case, we should discuss that as openly and plainly as we would talk about your other wishes and expectations.
